Şebnem AKİPEK ÖCAL

1Prof. Dr. Şebnem Akipek Öcal has graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Law in 1989, after TED Ankara College in 1985, with first place. She completed her master's degree (LL.M) at the University of London, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and then received her doctorate from Ankara University Social Sciences Institute. She served as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor at Ankara University, Faculty of Law, and also served as Director at Ankara University, Vocational School of Justice, Chief Legal Counsel at Middle East Technical University and Dean of the Faculty of Law at Kadir Has University. In various years, she has lectured at Middle East Technical University, Hacettepe University, Bilkent University, Anadolu University, Koç University, Eastern Mediterranean University and Ufuk University as a visiting professor. Retired from Ankara University in October 2018, Prof. Dr. Şebnem Akipek Öcal served as the Vice Rector at TED University for about a year and still works as a faculty member at the same university. She has given undergraduate and graduate courses on Civil Law, Law of Obligations, Consumer Law, Real Estate Law, Banking Law, Energy Law, Health Law, International Arbitration and Sale Contracts Law. Akipek Öcal, who serves as an arbitrator in many national and international arbitration cases, is also a mediator, as well as giving legal opinions on disputes, especially in the fields of contract preparation, obligations and family law. In addition to being the author of national and international books, book chapters and articles written in Turkish, English and German in many different fields of Civil Law, she has presented papers as an invited speaker at many congresses, conferences, symposiums and panels. She is fluent in English and German, also knows French and Latin in intermediate level.
